How it all began
But why make mother earth suffer?
The idea of luxury Menswear with handmade textiles made by the local people. This thought was what we needed to bring Earthpiece to life.
In pursuit of a clothing line that echoes one’s style, we did not want to make the nature compromise. And there we had this idea to weave something conscious and – connected with the traditional roots.
It is sustainability and Indian craftsmanship that paved the way for us to start something that preserves not only mother nature but also our heritage and to put on garments that are enlivened by the hand of an artisan himself. After all, what could be more impeccable than that? The world is welcoming slow fashion with arms open and hearts more glad than ever, we have approached it keeping in mind the history of Indian craftsmanship. The idea Our collection is an excuse to introduce clothing made by the people, for the people.
Earthpiece is a product of threads that align with the environment and the craft that embraces the culture and beliefs in uncompromising ideals and a commitment to do things the right way.
We respect the environment and the Artisans and weavers we work with. This is how we make a difference, also for the next generations of their community. We are committed to creating a better and inspiring change. We can create a more sustainable future for people and the planet.
Artisans and the Craftsmanship
No matter where we are in the world, there should be no barrier that deprives us of traditional silhouettes. We are creating something that brings change while sustaining our age-old craft and skills. Our collaboration with NGOs and local communities is a step towards strengthening the ties between an individual and the heritage. The weavers and artists we are working with incorporate century-old craft techniques. All collections going to be created with materials that are ethically sourced and it only brings the outcome closer to nature.
Stitch, Refine Ready – How We Do It
We enliven flowers, food, and plant waste into breathing silhouettes that don’t harm the environment. Natural resources are pegged to minimum usage and the eyes are always on making something out of what is already present. Every piece we create knows how natural dyes and organic and recycled materials can do wonders and make it last – for good.
In the parade of inspiring a change in clothing, we do not lose sight of our old-world clothing. Before reaching the last finish in our studio, each piece is handwoven and handspun through traditional skills and approach. Working with artisans and weavers from different corners of India allows us to breathe the quaintness of our culture.
Fabrics that Show Earthpiece the Light
The choice of fabric is a predominant factor to bring the idea of sustainability and traditional craft to fruition. We use biodegradable and ethically grown fabrics that enable us to mitigate our carbon footprint and achieve the extent of the eco-friendly collection. We source organic cotton, the crucial bearer of conscious clothing, from GOTS-certified units.
Our cotton material is grown organically. This indigenous species of cotton is grown in the Kutch region of Gujarat in India and is known for its pure organic properties, wherein no chemicals or fertilizers are being used during cultivation. With no use of fertilizers or pesticides, it also ensures that soil health is kept intact, making it the most ecologically balanced category crop. The crop doesn’t require significant irrigational facilities and remains purely rain-fed. This removes the need for any agricultural interventions around the consumption of electricity or transportation for that matter, thereby also making it the most carbon-neutral cash crop aside from just being energy efficient too.
“While the entire methodology to make the fabric is manual, it helps various artisans and weavers’ communities to earn their livelihood from this”.
What makes our textiles whole is the essence of heritage that comes to life through handweaving and printing techniques in India. The community of craftsmen and weavers from Ahmedabad, West Bengal, and Gujarat give us hands in breathing the beauty of Indian art into fabrics.
All our buttons are made from Corozo. Corozo is a natural material and is often referred to as the “tagua-nut”. They are the seeds of the tagua palms.
